TAKE CONTROL

Good news, you can greatly improve your health and fitness with simple exercises that target multiple muscle groups and aspects of fitness. Here are a few simple exercises which are well known to benefit one's health. Don't worry, they are easy to incorporate into your daily routine.

* Hold on one second though... If you are aware of any medical conditions that affect you, it is recommended to first have a consultation with a doctor to be personally examined and determine how these exercises can impact your health. (Ok, got it!)

One highly recommended exercise is brisk walking. I'm sure you were aware of this already. But have you considered that this simple aerobic exercise increases your heart rate, improves your blood circulation, and burns calories. It can also lower your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, and some cancers. Brisk walking is easy to do and can be done anywhere, anytime. All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes and a safe route. You can walk around your neighborhood, park, office, or mall. You can also use a treadmill or an elliptical machine if you prefer. The key is to walk fast enough that you can still talk but not sing. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise per week.

Another good exercise is squats. Ok, I mentioned the word "easy" earlier... well, sorry. I should have left that up to interpretation. But squats are cool. They are a form of strength training that works your lower body muscles, such as your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and calves. They can also strengthen your core, back, and pelvic floor muscles. Squats can help you build muscle mass, increase bone density, improve balance and posture, and prevent injuries. Squats are simple to do and don't require any equipment. All you need is enough space to stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.

There are many other good exercises to try as well. They can even be fun. Exercises like planks—a form of core exercise that works your abdominal muscles, as well as your back, shoulders, arms, and legs. And lunges—strength training that works your lower body muscles, especially your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and hip flexors. These can also improve your stability, alignment, and endurance.

According to the Mayo Clinic, elements of a well-rounded routine fitness training balances five elements of good health. You should always ensure your routine includes:

  • Aerobic fitness
  • Strength training
  • Core exercises
  • Balance training
  • Flexibility and stretching

It is important to remember, you can start off with small steps. Then build the mental strength to take your fitness journey and wellness goals to the next level and beyond. Get ready to experience the most life-changing transformation.

Regardless of your age, abundant evidence shows that exercise can enhance your health and well-being. Many people have recently developed sedentary pastimes. Watching TV, surfing the Internet, or playing computer and video games. Studies show that these pastimes are nevertheless good for you and therefore they do not need to be replaced. Finding the right balance among them is the key for optimizing the benefits.
